The FCCP is sad to announce that the Sweetheart Ball will be cancelled this year.

The Sweetheart Ball is a joint venture of the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership and the Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD). The funds raised from this event will benefit the Helping Hand Fund which provides support to unmet needs of FCUSD students and families in the Folsom and Rancho Cordova community. In 2008 the Helping Hand Fund provided the following support to local youth:

An avid reader at an elementary school experienced discomfort with reading; thanks to the Helping Hand Fund she received an eye exam and glasses and now she’s a top reader at her school.

A family was suffering financial hardship after the parents took unpaid leave from work to care for their son, who suffered two strokes; the Helping Hand Fund provided the family with a gift card to the grocery store.

The fund further meets the needs of students through establishing scholarships to assist its students in stepping onto the path to higher education.

In addition to helping individual students and families, the fund enhances existing community programs including:  Roots and Horizons mentoring program (mentoring children of prisoners), CAKe after-school and recreational activities, REACH Youth Development Program, Birth and Beyond Community Response, Effective Parenting Initiative, SETA Safety-Net Services program and SMUD’s Energy Help Program.
