CAKe provides “in-between” center activities which offer safe and positive activities for youth ages 7 – 18 while they are in-between school and home.  Launched in July 2008, the program kicked off with the CAKe Summer Program which offered drop-in activities two afternoons a week during mid-July to mid-August.  Nearly 100 youth enjoyed the summer theme of “Around the World” as they participated in art, food, film and recreation activities from Mexico, Africa, Asia and Hawaii.  In addition to offering programs and activities, CAKe provides youth leadership opportunities for youth ages 14-18 to work alongside adult volunteers and staff in the development, implementation and facilitation of program activities. Through collaboration with community agencies and youth programs, CAKe will continue to develop services that meet a broad range of needs such as recreation, academic support, youth leadership and mentoring.
