The mother of a 15-year-old youth leader said that her son was very excited when he received his first gift card for his work at the summer program. He enjoyed seeing the reward for his hard work and said that he’d like to work hard in school this year, so that he would not have to go to summer school next year, and instead could get a summer job. He also said that his experience at CAKe made him realize that he might like to work with children in the future. His mother was extremely proud of his work ethic and new-found motivation.
One parent commented on how much her 8 year old daughter loves CAKe camp and the staff. She said her daughter looks forward to every day of camp and hangs all of the artwork she makes during camp up on the wall of her bedroom. She has also made new friends at camp. This family is new to the Rancho Cordova area and through CAKe they have become involved in other services and resources that the Partnership offers.
